CAs of IIM ABCL, Batch of 2022 - A Comprehensive Profile

Updated: Aug 10, 2020

This article is special.

The CA journey from CPT to Final is unforgettable and getting into an old IIM is the cherry on top!

The very core reason this website started was that I wanted to help my CA fraternity realise their MBA dreams.

The CA+MBA is a special breed of professionals, that combine the skill sets of two very rigorous and demanding courses. If you are confused about the synergies between the CA and the MBA course, I suggest you give read this article here.

As a CA who wants to do an MBA, these 10 commandments are your best friend. I wish someone had told me this when I started out!

Now that we are equipped with the why and the how of Chartered Accountants pursuing an MBA, let us get to what is needed to get that shortlist.

A quick overview of the CA-MBA Batch of 2020-22:

Total number of qualified Chartered Accountants at:

  1. IIM Ahmedabad - 20

  2. IIM Bangalore - 18

  3. IIM Calcutta - 07

  4. IIM Lucknow - 14

  5. IIM Kozhikode- 21

I cannot count the number of times I've received queries from Chartered Accountants listing out their past scores, asking me if they stand a shot at IIM BLACKI. Additionally, there is the popular question of "Minimum Percentile" required!

As a step in the direction of helping you gauge your profile, we bring to you the ultimate composition of the profiles of Chartered Accountants who have entered IIM A, B, C or L for their B-School journey.

These fantastic people took out the time to fill out this information for all of us to gain from, and I am very grateful to them for that.

I would also like to thank Umang, Tanuj, Kifil & Ritika for being absolutely spectacular and helping me collate this information across B-Schools.

Points of Caution:

1. I am sure we can appreciate how sensitive this data is and hence their names have been masked.

2. This is in NO WAY to PREDICT if you will get a call or not. A lot of people had shortlists at lower percentiles in the previous years, but due to changes in the composite scoring pattern, missed out on certain colleges in the current year.

The criteria is dynamic and nobody can predict whether you will get a call or at what percentile you will 'surely' get a call.

3. Getting a shortlist is very different from converting the shortlist!

Please note that we have made no attempt to find out what calls these CAs converted. That depends on a lot of factors but is mainly driven by your personal interview. The PIs are subjective and at any given day, you may not be able to bring your A-game or just have a tough panel!
